Need help setting up Starlink?

Starlink Installation Services

So, you’ve researched and purchased your Starlink Satellite Broadband system which comes in a box and is available to self-install with its little tripod.

You’ve taken it out of the box and set it up to check it all works as promised. You can pretty much guarantee that its optimal position is in the middle of your lawn with the cable running through a window or a door.

This is where we at ASTV can step in and help to provide a professional installation for you – you don’t have to order any more equipment as we provide everything required to carry out a professional wall or chimney mount for your new system.

We supply the correct mounting bracket and mast – (we may ask you to send us some pictures) to ensure an uninterrupted view of space from your roof top or gable end of your property.

A standard installation will cost £240 – this includes a wall bracket, (up to 18” overhang) if mounted on a wall and extending past your gutters and the mast, the drop cable (supplied with your equipment is 100ft (30m) long – presently this cannot be extended). We will then connect and configure your SpaceX router for you, please ensure you order the additional dongle if you wish to hard wire anything or extend the Wifi capability. Please see our networking WiFi page to see how this is possible.

What is Starlink?

Starlink is a satellite network developed by private spaceflight company, SpaceX, in order to provide low-cost internet to remote locations. With high speeds and latency as low as 20ms in most locations, Starlink enables video calls, online gaming, streaming, and other high data rate activities that historically have not been possible with satellite internet.

How does Starlink work?

Satellite internet works by sending information from the terminal (uplink) and sending it back down to earth (downlink), and reportedly travels 47% faster than in fibre-optic cables. An individual Starlink satellite will work alongside four others in its nearby network, providing a reliable connection. Because of this, a vast network of satellites orbits the globe, in order for the coverage to be widespread. You may have seen the launches or watched the SpaceX train of satellites through the sky of an evening.
